Final ImagineIT
I have learned a lot from the design process of implementing my imagineIt. Implementing the design process has changed my thought process. When I started the design process I had the end in mind. Starting with the end in mind gave me a better understanding of where I was going and what steps I needed to take to get there. Most of the things that I implemented I have implemented before, however, this time I did it with purpose and precision. My peers stated that this imagineIt design process reminded them of the backwards design process. Our staff has been introduced to the designed process before, however they have not really went through the complete cycle. Allowing them to see me complete the cycle gave them more confidence to fully implement the backwards design process. Allowing the students to be fully engage in the design process gave them more confidence when working in groups. Overall my students completed more projects together than they had previously. They worked in groups with the idea that this was not only beneficial now but also beneficial in the future. I think what surprised me the most was that the students stated that they had worked in groups before but didn't think it would be useful in the future. Teaching itself I have learned not to be afraid to push my students to the limit. This project has showed me how truly resilient students are, even after a bad day while working with cooperative groups students came back the next day focused and ready. This project has influenced my teaching as a whole by allowing me to step outside the box and take chances. In the future when I start projects I will push through to the very end even we when it is not successful. I will test the resilience of my students, and I will push their understandings to beyond surface learning and thinking.
